January 2010: Tanya was recently appointed Vice-Chair of the Transboundary Specialist Group of the IUCN World Commission on Protected Areas as well as Managing Editor of the International Bear News - The Newsletter of the IBA/IUCN Bear Specialist Group.

Tanya and Steve Primm recently organized a workshop on coexisting with carnivores in the Madison Valley. Read more on p. 23 of the IBN newsletter.

Tanya has also spearheaded the creation and collaboration of the Yale Large Carnivore Group.

Tanya RosenTanya has been involved with grizzly bears and their conservation in the GYE since 2004; in the summer of 2006 she started working with the Interagency Grizzly Bear Study Team (IGBST) on projects in Grand Teton and Yellowstone National Park. She has also developed a study, with USGS, IGBST and the YNP Bear Management Office, looking at the economic and social value of roadside bear viewing in Yellowstone National Park. Her key research interest remains the application of the policy sciences framework to understanding and managing conflicts between people and carnivores in the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem and the Central European Alps countries. Tanya grew up in Italy and the former Yugoslavia and holds advanced degrees in Law and International Law and Environmental Science. She is currently pursuing graduate work at the Yale School of Forestry and Environmental Studies.
