Tiger-Human Conflict in Central India
Clay Nielsen is working with the Tiger Research and Conservation Trust (TRACT) to study and conserve tigers associated with the Tadoba-Andhari Tiger Reserve and surrounding landscape in the Maharashtra state of central India. More than 70 humans have been attacked by tigers outside of the tiger reserve during the past 5 years. Clay is working with TRACT to understand the environmental and social attributes associated with tiger attacks on humans in the region. The research team is currently seeking funding to pursue remote camera studies of tiger occupancy which will provide a more accurate assessment of how tigers may be encountering humans in this enchanting rural landscape.
