Saving
the Rockies from inappropriate energy development.
We’re
continuing to work diligently to protect the Rocky Mountain
Front from inappropriate energy development with our partners
in the Coalition to Protect the Rocky Mountain Front and with our
Canadian friends in Rescue the Rockies. We successfully stopped
the EIS for drilling proposals. Now we are working to buy-out the
existing leases.

A
demonstration project to restore prairie habitat.
S.O.S is
partnering with another nonprofit, Sacred Ground International,
to plan and implement a demonstration project to restore prairie
habitat and its cultural uses on a 3,000- acre ranch in eastern
Montana. Focusing on the use of buffalo and integrating culturally
significant paint horses, light grazing will continue. We will
use a combination of traditional wisdom and conventional science
to restore degraded grasslands, wetlands, and medicinal plants.

Sustainable
choices.
In light of the recently released Millennium Assessment Report,
it is obvious each individual must look anew at how their choices
affect the quality of our environment. As a feature of our work
to educate the public on issues of sustainability, SOS is developing
radio spots to address specific questions people may have on how
to live more sustainably.
S.O.S
looks forward to continued affiliation with NRCC and its outstanding
research associates. For more information on S.O.S, please visit
